About the Work
Nightbloom is a collection of original acrylic floral paintings on black paper.
Flowers are usually tied to color, light, and abundance. Nightbloom starts with seeing them without color, light, or abundance. Working in white and muted tones, the flowers become quieter and more stripped down. The focus shifts to the shape of a petal, the movement of a stem, and the space between things.
Each painting stands on its own. Together they form one body of work.
Sometimes removing the surface reveals something even more beautiful underneath.
